Generalization of The Signal Aspects and Aspect Sequencing Chart for The Computer-Based Interlocking Systems

Abstract - The paper describes a solution for generalization and standardization of the signal aspects and the aspect sequencing for computer-based interlocking systems. The solution overcomes route and speed signalling differences and merges both concepts in a standardized, generally applicable algorithm. The generalization is based on the knowledge of interlocking systems, which are used by various railway authorities, and covers both three-aspect and four-aspect signalling practices. As a result, it is possible to develop a general set of the signal aspects related interlocking software, which is independent of the track layout and signalling practice within a country of application.
